  • Water contamination or damage to home or HVAC system
  • Home renovation or remodeling

Two ways to inspect the ducts of your heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) system:

Indoor Air Quality (IAQ) can be defined as the nature of air as it affects the health and well-being of building occupants.

Well maintained and clean heating, ventilation and air-condition (HVAC) systems are an important part of sustaining acceptable indoor air quality.

Contaminants in HVAC systems may take many forms:

  • Debris from rusted HVAC components
  • Live and dead insects
  • Loose fiberglass
  • Animal dander
  • Dust particles
  • Carpet fibers
  • Skin flakes
  • Dust mites
  • Pollen
  • Algae

Biological contaminants include but are not limited to:

  • Bacteria
  • Fungi (mold and mildew)
  • Spores
  • Viruses… and the by-products of these elements.

HVAC systems are a perfect breeding ground for biological contaminants due to their enclosed spaces, constant temperatures, humidity and dirt as a nutrient source.

Americans spend up to 90 percent of their time indoors. The amount of time spent indoors is a significant concern, given the fact that studies conducted by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH), and others, show indoor pollutant levels may be 10 to 100 times higher than outdoor concentrations.

Poor indoor air quality can be significantly improved. HVAC systems can be cleaned, biological contaminants controlled, and filtration systems upgraded.

Indoor Air Quality is one of the most important environmental issues facing us today.

The world Health Organization has stated that 30% of all buildings can be categorized as having sick building syndrome (SBS)

Health care costs attributable to poor Indoor Air Quality (IAQ) are in the neighborhood of $15 billion per year. (American Medical Association)

85% of Americans don't know the air in their homes may be hazardous to their health. The quality of indoor air is something all Americans should be concerned about. (American Medical Association)

NIOSH study shows 53% of indoor air quality problems were caused by problems with or in the ventilation system. (EPA)

When moisture is present, the potential for micro- biological growth, mold, increases and spores from such growth may be released into the home's living space. Some of these contaminants may cause allergic reactions or other symptoms in individuals if they are exposed to them.
